K.K Balakrishnan, K.K Narayanaswamy and K.K. Shivaram were the founders of Bharath coffee. K.K Balakrishnan began thinking about opening a gourmet coffee business when he was just 14 years old. He who worked as a waiter in a remote village of A.P, became a sales representative marketing Brooke bond India products and got inspired. The three of them then opened a coffee shop with a minimum investment of rupees 250. Ours was the first shop in twin cities.

They always wanted to set up a different kind of company, the one that not only celebrated coffee and the rich South Indian tradition but also brought a feeling of connection. Having come from Kerala the first thing they did was to understand and respect the traditional Andhra culture. People in the neighbourhood loved and respected them for their honesty,   integrity and hard work.

The 3 brothers procured the best coffee seeds and their wives hand roasted them and supplied fresh coffee powder to handful of known family friends at Malkajgiri and Defence colonies of Secunderabad. The only transportation available to them was their own fabricated bi-cycle. Later on they had a wood fried hand roaster used for roasting 50 kgs of raw seeds spinning at a constant speed to avoid over or under roast. This is how Bharath coffee was founded and grew at a steady pace with well over 10,000 loyal customers and many five star hotels.

In late 1980’s it was taken over by their son-in-law A.S Parameshwaran who is very passionate about the taste and smell of coffee. He successfully retained all the customers and believed in serving the existing customers with the best coffee.
